Britpop and Glastonbury

British festival dressing has two roots. One is Britpop: parkas, track tops and bucket hats, which came back into view with the 2025 Oasis tour. The other is Glastonbury, where mud made wellies and wax jackets part of the outfit rather than something to hide. The formula now is simple: waterproofs on top, something fun underneath. Glastonbury took 2026 off and returns in June 2027.

Where it comes from

• At Glastonbury in 2005, Kate Moss wore black Hunter wellies with a waistcoat, short shorts and a studded belt, which turned wellies into festival status wear.
